2.03: 2.04: My impression is that this is a higher spec car made to look like a cheaper police car with the hubcaps (it looks like one of the hubcaps has come off to reveal an alloy in the second thumbnail). |

Yup: Single exhaust, keyless entry keypad, and the badge on the trunk lid looks like it says CROWN VICTORIA LX. |

LX wheel in the second thumb makes this a 2003 (at the time) LX [P74] model. |

The main car and most of the thumbnails show a 1998-2002 base model. The second thumbnail that rts is referring to is the 2003 model. |

No, all of the cars are the 2003 LX model. The wiper arms are the ones that were made for the 2003+ refresh and the 1998-2002 fleet hubcaps don't fit the wheels as they should (they should be more inset than bulging out.) |

I see what you're saying and I won't necessarily disagree but there are some other inconsistencies. If this really is a 2003+ LX model, then it's going to have to be a 2004 model since the 2003s were the last to have black b-pillars and body-colored side mirrors. However, the car appears to have the 1998-2002 headrests (smaller) and most glaringly of all, the 2003+ models don't have amber rear lenses on the bottom portion of the taillights. This car does. |

It's weird how the 2003+ LX wheels fit the 1998-2002 models considering the disc brakes and bolts were changed starting in the 2003 model year. This episode aired in June 2003, so it could be a early 2004 model. |

That still doesn't explain the taillights but I'll change it to a 2004. |

MY 2004 production started July 28, 2003; there's no way any of them are '04s. |

Late 2002 model then? Those LX wheels don't fit 1998-2002 models and I have seen 2003 spec models with 2002 build dates and vins. |

More likely late 2003; the B pillar is body colored. |

When did the electrochromic mirror (with the curved bottom) come in? Does that refine the year range here? |

I think that started with the 1998 redesign. Generally, the second thumbnail with the exposed front wheel (hubcap fell off?) and the wiper blades/arms means it's a 2003+ LX model (I assume the 1998-2002 base/police wheel covers were installed to make it look more police like) |

So you can fit a 98-02 hubcap on a 03+ model. Noice |

Indeed 2003.5. |
