It is a 1948 Silver Streak, but to say if it is eight. I guess it is Six. -- Last edit: 2015-01-07 05:57:47 |

Hello, Bob. I see only 'Torpedo' and 'Streamliner' series in my reference book concerning '48 Pontiacs. Is Silver Streak a trim level? -- Last edit: 2015-01-07 06:20:17 |

It was an engine reference. The subject car appears to be a Streamliner Deluxe. -- Last edit: 2015-01-07 15:12:27 |

yes, quite a doubt. You see the Torpedo and Streamliner both De Luxe or not, with same chrommed strips and with same body lines. |

Per the 1948 brochure, the Deluxe models had the stainless steel gravel guards and wheel trim rings. |

No doubt this car is a De Luxe, due to strips and guards. But there is no support to state it is a Streamliner as the Torpedo shared the same bodies. |

My understanding is the Streamliner had a continuous curve roof while the Torpedo had a slight bustle back, at least in 4-door versions. It appears that way in the brochure illustrations anyway. Link to "oldcarbrochures.com" |
