No picture available, but appearance of pre-production Stag [LD13] RVC 434H, damson (=purple) recorded. It was probably owned at the time by Tony Hart who was noted Stag specialist - dealer, racing Stags, restorations, tuning etc. Also significant car as modelled by Corgi Vanguards as VA10108 in 2009 - edition size was actually 1200 not 1500 - and here.

Corgi catalogue description:
"RVC 434H was a pilot build automatic and spent its early life as a press car, featuring in road tests and magazine articles. Its first owner, well-known BBC presenter and journalist Clive Jacobs, kept it for some years and in the mid-70s had it refinished in black and fully converted to Mk2 specification at the Triumph factory. However in 1979 a fuel line fault caused the car to burn out and renowned Stag specialist Tony Hart bought the salvage. He rebuilt the car to its original specification, modelled here, including the small Bakelite pre-production plate on the gearbox tunnel."

According to the story line, the son of the Growing Pains family (can't remember the name(s)) bought the Stag as a wreck, did it up and sold it for £7,000 - a pretty large sum for the period. He then spent the money on a near new (at the time) Escort convertible which turned out to have been stolen, so he lost his money and the car. (Almost served him right!)

The programme was aptly named, - every cut was an edit.

Slight chance this sighting might also be RVC 434H/LD13.
