mwbridgwater ◊ 2024-05-19 21:25	There were two basic models of GMC cab-overs used in the "Cannonball" TV series. The earlier 1952-1953 model DF750-47 which has the older style grille, similar to the conventional models of that time, and cowl-mounted (low) windshield wipers ("750" can be seen on the side of the hood in some of the shots.). The one pictured above is the later model, a 1954-1959 DF660-47 ("660" can be seen on the side of the hood in some of the shots.). The '54-'59 models like this have the newer grille, unique to these cab-overs, and overhead windshield wipers. Both models were powered by the 4-71 GM/Detroit Diesel.

See my comments here, but that particular model was 1954-1959. It didn't use the same cab as the Chevrolet trucks (as light/medium-duty GMC trucks did, 100-600 series) but the bigger GMC-only cab used on 500-600 series cab-overs and 700-900 series cab-overs and conventionals. The spotting features for the light/medium Chevrolet and GMC trucks do not carry over directly to the heavy-duty models: The door glass vent windows did not appear on the big cab until the following year, 1952. Also, the big cab always had turn-down door handles (And not the same type as the early Chevrolet/GMC small cab turn-down handles) throughout its production, mid-1949 through 1962.
