RLZH 'Green Goddess' , an actual military one . For decades people have been calling the hundreds of Auxiliary Fire Service ones ( in use till recent times) military vehicles when they aren't. -- Last edit: 2014-09-05 17:07:14 |

In production from 1953 to about 1958, over 3,000 built, the majority as civil defense / Auxilary Fire Service units. Early ones were 4x2 Bedford SHZ about 1,300 produced, and the later ones 4x4 RLHZ as here. The military registration is in the range 1955-1956 (British army). |

Military RLHZ self-propelled emergency pumps were actually painted red. http://www.romar.org.uk/page91.html |

73BR25 was genuine plate within the 00BR01-99BR99 sequence for Army B Vehs 1955/56, so likely a real tender serving the Longmoor Military Railway where filming happened. |

Yes agree and it has military markings too. Ironic that the armies Bedford RLHZ fire engines were painted red whereas the civilian AFS ones were painted army green ! |
