Straightforward Cortina in early Mk3 colour - L or maybe XL. |

I was thinking the same. Was this colour named "Tawny metallic "? |

Is this really in Austria? The number plate is false. |

Never visited Vienna, but it's 100% Austria. By the way, in one differenr scene is visible the real license plate of the car, and is from Rome. Although a few scenes were filmed in Italy and set in Austria, especially the last car chase scene with the racing Capri and the still unknown Polizei motorbikes, a long part of this film was surely filmed and set in Vienna, Osterlich. |

I wondered the same as well, especially as it looks a bit like a Chevette further down the line. But (a) probably not a Chevette - May 75 launch would be very very tight for film date (b} street furniture - lights, signs - just do not look right for UK. Also the Merc dealer decoration looks foreign (c) the Vogue estate is visibly LHD so a Sunbeam, whatever the location (d) European Cortina Mk3 markets very limited - A, CH, CS and not much else - not I as far as I know. So no reason for this shot not to be Vienna. |

The building on the right looks like the State Opera House, as the office building in front of the theatre was used for filming this scene. In the film was also impossible to don't see the road works (the workers were staring straight at the camera) where now there seems to be an underground parking under the theatre. The scene with the yellow Volvo and the second appearance of the blue Rover was seemingly filmed at the Schonbrunn Palace. The Audi/NSU/Renault scene was filmed in Josefsplatz. And also the Riesenrad was used for another scene. -- Last edit: 2014-08-28 13:50:36 |

No definitely not a Chevette and probably not a hatchback, as there is no shut-line for the hatch itself. Plus the Chevette rear glass had rounded lower corners not square. -- Last edit: 2014-08-28 14:02:22 |

Footnote on Cortinas in A - in about 72 when I was a kid we had a short trip to Vienna and I escaped parental cultural overload expedition for a couple of hours brochure collecting. Main Ford dealer had Cortina Mk3s and Taunus TC1s side by side in showroom. which even then struck me as unnecessary duplication. |
