It looks to me derived by a Cortina and therefore without USA origins.

Your right , these were built in South Africa. But lets say British as used Dagenham components I believe.

Our local left wing councillors had apoplexy when they saw a new fleet of these in their yard all proudly wearing Made in South Africa labels on windscreen !
Apartheid was still at its height then.

Wikipedia says the P100 was developed in South Africa initially for the domestic market and used locally produced parts, including Rover SD1 hubs at one time. The original Cortina Pickup with Mk 3 bodywork was introduced in 1971, it was rebodied as a Mk 4 in 1977. In 1982 it was updated with Mk 5 bodywork and launched in Europe as the P100.
