220 S [W180.010]. The [W121] was smaller, had a single chrome strip on the lower side and had no quarterlights in the rear doors ;)

Alright youre right that this is a Ponton, but it isnt a 1954 220S, because the 220S was built 1956+, So its either a 1954+ 220a, or a 1956+ 220S

The main difference between 1954+ 220a and 1956+ 220 S are the front wing chrommed strip, I can see that there is none, so that a 220a. 1954+.

Also the front door quarter light has no frame, but this detail we cannot see from here.

Type car is W 180 I. Writing the complete body number may bring some misundertsanding.

The thumbnail clearly shows the front wing strip...

That's correct, I didn´t see the thumbnail, which shows also the quarter light frame. The strip is very clear, so that, 220 S, W 180 II, 1956+. This car can be 1956 or 1957 as we can see clearly the plate lights, what doesn't happen with the other 220 S - /vehicle_637004-Mercedes-Benz-220-S-W180010-1954.html , which is a 1958+ for sure, but I don't know why it has not been noted as 1958.
