Do we need to sort out R12 coding? I entered as X17, but someone changed to R1170 (which is fine by me) but we seem to have several parallel codes operating. |

Step by step we're going to precise coding, as we have with first gen Renault 5. French made Renault 12 coding: R1170 - sedan 12 no trim name for 1970-1972 / 1973+ L/TL R1173 - sedan 12 Gordini R1177 - sedan 12 TS/TR (automatic) R1330 - wagon 12 no trim name for 1970/1972 / later LN/TN/L/TL R1337 - wagon 12 TS/TR (automatic) R2360 - van 12 Sociéte R975 - 12 Alpine. Special Spanish (production ceased in 1982 for sedan, 1984 for wagon): R1260 - sedan 12 S R1261 - sedan 12 TS R1337 - wagon 12 S R1338 - wagon 12 TS R1339 - wagon 12 GTL 1.4 (1980-1984) |

I should have guessed - a work in progress. Where does that leave X17? For elsewhere in world? Does it apply to any production in F and E? Are you converting existing F and E records (if so for a long slow task)? |

4-digit codes are older models. 2-digit are newer. For these, X = the project itself and other letters are used for each body style. X17 is for the Dacia version it seems (X75 for later models)... http://renaultconcepts.online.fr/gamme/codes-frame.htm And the R12 would only gave 4-digit R-codes. -- Last edit: 2013-06-25 17:49:52 |

And I'd say X17 is safe code when we don't know the exact R12 type. |
