 Registered in March 1985 makes it a 1986 MY? And if that was the case, I'm sure Taylor would've said something. And replacing the older alloys with newer ones is not really rocket science.

 Glass's says 380SL got standard wash wipe in UK Dec 84 (so this could be 84my??) then replaced here by 420SL in Oct 85. Is the front spoiler an owner update from 86+?

 The car was registered in March 1985. I am not sure about the front spoiler or wash wipe but would think that the alloys have been changed to newer ones at some point.
