I think it's a 73 Custom 500 (due to the lack of a c-pillar badge) with a 74 LTD grill. |

That's not an LTD grille. Compare: Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" The '74 Ford brochure actually shows C-pillar badges on both the Custom 500 and Galaxie 500. It may have been removed from this car. Again, brochure illustration: Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" I further augment my argument with two additional factors: 1) The subject car has a grill emblem, which Galaxie 500's had and the Custom 500's lacked. 2) There is side moulding, standard on the Galaxie 500. Don't know if it was optional on the Custom 500. -- Last edit: 2012-10-30 19:40:01 |

Right you are. Sorry about that, the badge on the grill threw me. That's what I meant; on 74 models both the Custom 500 and Galaxie 500 have c-pilar badges. On 73 models the Galaxie 500 has a script, but the Custom 500s do not. Also as the above 73 Custom 500 brochure shows; the side moldings were optional. |

I see what you're saying. But isn't it more likely that the nameplate was lost/removed than that the grille was replaced? |

So, the car was already 20 years old at the time of filming. They probably restored to whatever they have it on their hand. ![]() |

But to re-paint, the nameplate would have to be removed. No so the grill. I feel 1974 Galaxie 500 is most likely. |
