Which would be more correct, the 2 door version listed as a sedan or coupe? |
◊ 2012-07-21 00:44 |
In Europe this was the Kadett (or Olympia) LS, a fastback sedan. There's been a 4-door version of this as well. Coupés had differently shaped rear side windows. |

They sold 2 different 2-door versions, and this one is the coupe version. The sedan had more upright backend. Link to "www.ebay.com" Link to "www.ebay.com" |

Yep, found this out last night. Was going to edit my original response, but since you mentioned it. Here is a photo from a Buick-Opel brochure of 1968, looks like there was a third 2-door version sold here: ![]() Never knew there was a semi-fastback sold with the fastback and sedan. Looks like the lineup was like this from 1968-1970. In 1971, with the introduction of the 1900/Manta, the Kadett line was reduced to the formal sedans and wagon. -- Last edit: 2012-07-21 18:20:27 |

That brochure is even more confusing. The top picture (which is full coupe) is captioned LS, with what in Europe was the LS semi-fastback being called just Sports Sedan. As the third picture (again full coupe) is just called Sport Coupe, LS seems to be used as a trim level in US, unlike in Europe for a particular body shape. At least the 6th picture of the ordinary saloon body is the same basic version in Europe and US, and it looks as if this style /vehicle_79002-Opel-Kadett-Coupe-1967.html has been replaced by the brochure date. |

If you look at the second e-bay link I referenced above, that is for the LS Sport Coupe sold in the US. It is the full fastback. The semi-fastback was being called "Sports Sedan". 1967 was the last year for the other fastback. Here's the link to the "Sports Sedan" info: Link to "www.ebay.com" -- Last edit: 2012-07-21 18:57:03 |

Here's a list from Nada Guides on the types of Kadett's that were available for 1968: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1968/Opel Looks like to LS version was considered to be a 2 door coupe. |

Interesting NADA link - suggests US had a Sport Sedan version of the Rallye in 70/71 (presumably the European LS semi-fastback body) as well as the full Coupe. AFAIK European Rallye was only ever full Coupe. |

That doesn't sound correct. In the "Standard Catalogue of Imported Cars 1946-1990", he has the following listed in 1968: Kadett Series: 31 Kadett 2-dr sedan 39 Kadett 2-dr wagon Rallye/Sports series: 92 Rallye 2-dr Sport Coupe 91 Kadett Sport Sedan 99 Kadett LS 2-dr Sport Coupe 95 Kadett Deluxe 2-dr Sport Coupe -- Last edit: 2012-07-21 21:52:24 |

So this batch of 6 US-spec Kadetts with LS body (as European name) should all lose the LS tag and become Sports sedan? (Includes this one in the batch). -- Last edit: 2012-07-22 15:54:38 (130rapid) |

Sorry, the last of them is a 1968+ Coupé, not a LS /vehicle_362491-Opel-Kadett-LS-1968.html Anywayxs, as I understand night cub's brochure, the import car guide and the Wiki-article correctly, for the USA Opel may have used diffent names. And as a very irritating "extra", that even in Europe the last Coupés were also named LS ![]() |
