It can't be the older Granit 1500? Especially in the West German film... |

as the box is shaded in different color, compared to the cabin, this is quite good possible retrofitted to 1941+ make The lettering under the Posthorn is Deutsche Post same as in DDR but deleted after 1950 while legal name allready was Deutsche Bundespost Today Deutsche Post AG http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Bundespost -- Last edit: 2012-06-29 23:01:09 |

If it was already used in or before WWII, it was repainted, because the transporters of the Deutsche Reichspost were red. The postal services of both Germanys after 1949 had yellow vehicles. One exception were -in West Germany and the DDR- the vehicles of the telephone-service. They were mainly grey. |

Indeed an interesting question. It has definitely Western plates and the movie was made in an around Mannheim, so in the far West (despite the fact, that back in 1950 there were nearly no offical possibilities to cross the border). The postal services were already divided -Germany, too- and it was absolute unlikely, that any state-owned Western authority would ever purchase any DDR- or other Eastern product. The only exceptions, I can remember, were some Lada Niva for some forestry offices in the late 80ies. P.S.If it was meant really as an DDR-postal van (if we ignore the definitely Western plate), it would be absolutely implausible - until the 1.July 1990 no West German person would eve have the grotesque idea to steal or just want to own DDR-currency -- Last edit: 2012-06-30 14:51:01 |
