I have that definitely in the box with my childhood-toys.

I can remember that I had a very beaten-up version of this car (was from matchbox, too). But I sold it a long time ago along with many other cars in this scale. Now I only got cars in the scale 1/18.

I just have kept my childhood toys. Really collected I've WIKING-cars, until the early 90ies. Then they became too expensive and my real car more important.

Yeah, cars from WIKING are expensive, I know a person who collects them. But for me they are to small, I need big cars with many details.

This is a VERY strange Mark V. Year range is correct, but that vinyl roof is an addon. Factory trim would have wrapped down to the bottom of the C-pillar from the roof, creating a gap between the quarter window and vinyl.

Interior is the optional luxury group pattern in leather, color pattern Red/Rose (code DH in '77/78, code DN in 1979), which doesn't help to narrow it down at all. It also has the illuminated entry system, but that was available all three years as well.

All right, correction time: It's a '78-79. Those wire wheel covers weren't available as an option until 1978.

I should have spotted that much sooner.

EDIT: Finally figured out that trim too. The chrome strip across the roof is new, but the chrome strip at the bottom of the C-pillar is from a '78/9 Mark V with a carriage roof. Given that this car has an opera window, it's highly unlikely that this car had a carriage roof before it was refurbished. Chances are that a carriage roof car was used as a parts donor.
