2000-2003 models used permanent four-wheel drive by way of a one-speed single range New Venture Gear 125 transfer case. Used a center differential which provided a 38/62 torque split. Four-wheel electronic traction control (Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) in BMW speak) was employed to ABS "brake lock" any of the four wheels when wheelslip was detected. DTC simulated differential locks. |
