1964 or 1965 Rambler Classic Six or Ambassador V8. |

Looking better and checking on a book it could be either and more likely, judging by what can be seen of the grille, a 1966 AMC Classic Six. -- Last edit: 2012-04-02 14:05:35 |

Yes: definitely a 1966 American Motors Classic 6. |

The Classic was still under the Rambler nameplate in '66. Only the Ambassador was listed separately (AMC) that model year. Here is a close up from the '66 Rambler brochure: Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" Note the Rambler name on the front edge of the hood. -- Last edit: 2012-04-02 20:13:18 |

I though the opposite but I admit that the leterature is very confused about: many sources consider '66 Classics as AMC but '67 Rebels again as Ramblers...!? |

The proper model name was just Classic by this point, with no Six. This one is in 770 trim. |

It's "1966 Rambler Classic" and "1967 AMC Rebel". |

I thought the Rebel didn't become an AMC until 1968. As they're currently listed on the site: Compact: 1967 Rambler American 1968 AMC Rambler American 1969 AMC Rambler Midsize: 1966 Rambler Classic 1967 Rambler Rebel 1968 AMC Rebel Fullsize: 1965 Rambler Ambassador 1966 AMC Ambassador |

You appear to be quite right, Cougar. A quick check of the online '67 Rebel brochure shows the Rambler name on the car and in the text. I stand corrected. |
