Neptune, doesn't the 1st gen Cayenne have more true 4WD ingredients than the 2nd gen? |

I was just being silly with that comment. The new Cayenne is just as good as the old one. It still has permanent four-wheel drive with four-wheel electronic traction control [Automatic Brake Differential (ABD) in Porsche speak], center and rear differential locks, and a trick suspension. The new Cayenne only lacks low range reduction gearing. But then it doesn’t really need it. The engine makes more than enough torque and the with the gearbox locked in first gear with the other gear ratios make for a acceptable crawl ratio. For going down steep hills, it has Hill Decent Control (HDC), but Porsche calls it by another name. Low range gearing is slowly becoming obsolete as engines manage to make more torque at lower RPMs and more gears are added to the transmissions. Off road electronics like Hill Decent Control and Crawl Control are also helping push out low range gearing. -- Last edit: 2012-01-31 05:42:58 |

Who said it made it over the tree? The clearance is terrible. |

Oh you said it CAN climb over the tree not that it did sorry. I have doubts about that for the tree being off the ground too. |

Oh sure, it made it over that tree, didn’t you know the Cayenne can fly like a plane? You just press the blue button on the dash, the one marked for flight. Wings and propellers fold out. The driver flew right over that tree! He sure did! |
