That should probably have been altered already before the 2103 was introduced. According to information from Andy Thorntons "Cars of the Soviet Union", the name Lada was picked out in a contest already in september -71 to be used for export markets. But I think it´s hard to be definately sure of anything regarding these cars when it comes to how they´ve been branded really, and when. Even if AvtoVAZ intended them to be sold as Lada on export markets, from about 1972, quite a few still reach abroad customers with a rear badge in cyrillic reading Zhiguli, so it´s a bit of a mess unfortunately.. -- Last edit: 2012-01-11 23:20:23 |
