The 260-series with their upraised grill was made until roughly 1982 and some were sold as 1983 as well, but when the 760-series were introduced in 1982 and the more common 740 in 1984 the 240-series was believed to suffer badly in sales numbers. To keep the interest for the 240's as well Volvo decided to make it feel more exclusive, an that's why they in 1984 introduced the upright front on the 240 GL/GLE/GLT although the low spec DL kept the earlier one. That is a 1984-85 Volvo 240 GL.
