This otherwise beautiful car was a mess. The motor skipped badly and the transmission slipped. The owner was pretty much laughed off the lot especially after requesting $28,000 for it. 1 of 3000 total... 500 red over black. probably worth a bit over $4,000 even in need of help, but only about half of $28,000 if it needed nothing. |

This car was a big heap. He had repainted it badly and slopped paint all over the windshield. Rick brought in a mechanic and he found that the engine was misfiring and backfiring, and it had a ton of backyard mechanic work done. The auto transmission was slipping hard and it had an exhaust leak, and there was something wrong with the steering. The guy claimed he drove it over 70 miles on the freeway from Mesquite. He wanted $60 grand for the car, but got talked down to $27 grand, then $28 grand, then down to $4 grand. He was going to get $4 grand for it from Rick until the mechanic tested it, and when the mechanic got back, the guy was raving and ranting and insulting the mechanic like crazy telling him he was stupid, it was a crock, etc etc. The guy was one of those DIY car guys and bought a lemon, fixed it up and failed, got tired of it, so prettied it up then tried to sell it for concours money.
