There were 3 taillight designs for the Pontiac Phoenix... And there were models with taillights like those on the Ventura during the 3 years of production.

Here's a comment from this page: http://www.pontiacventura.com/1977-79_pontiac_phoenix.htm

" Note that the wraparound taillights have a little Pontiac arrow on the outboard corner.

There seems to have been no rhyme or reason in the various taillight schemes for the '77-'79 Phoenix; I'm speculating that Pontiac was using whatever body shells they could get their hands on, even hand-me-downs from other divisions. For example, the wraparound-light body style was shared with the Omega and Skylark (I even have a photo of a Phoenix with a Skylark taillight assembly in my files, so you know they can be swapped)."

It is fun to find some assembled vehicles with mixed parts :)

I learn something new every day on here
Ive only seen 1978 Phoenix's with these lights but youve taught me something....Of course, Ive only seen about 5 Phoenix's in my life and venturas are only slightly more common.

When I was a kid, my piano teacher, sister Jacqueline, used to have a brown one. I don't recall which taillights it had (I was about 7 years old and so was her Ventura!). I know that the Pontiac Phoenix replaced the Ventura somewhere during the 1977 model year.
