Ford cogitated to manufacture in Brazil the European Orion, with low trunk and four doors. But in 1989, with Autolatina, Ford created a national and more imposing drawing, with back high, but with only two doors - preference of the market to the time. The GLX version, more luxurious, used the 1800 cm³ VW engine. In 1990 VW presented the first clone of Autolatina: the Apollo, version of Verona with trim differences.
