XJ The Series Two? |
|

Yes XJ S2 body (eg rear quarterlights and C-pillar) but S3 bumpers and unusual side trim ( /vehicle_382604-Land-Rover-88---Series-III.html ). XJ6 S2 was assembled in ZA - no reference found for XJ12 - so I guess this is the local version, possibly with 1979+ (UK date) S3 updates, but it was not worth upgrading the ZA version with the revised S3 bodywork, so they continued with a hybrid. Can anyone confirm this, and that the XJ12 was not assembled in ZA? |

Another similar ZA S2/3 example. |

Confirmed as ZA build S2/S3 hybrid, classed as S3: Comment from here - "29 APRIL 2014 Worldwide the XJ6 Series 2 ended in 1979 and the Series 3 began in 1980. However, at Blackheath it appears that the same Series 2 vehicle was retained and, where practical, some of the Series 3 modifications (bumpers, petrol caps)were tacked on and the hybrid was classed as a Series 3. This could have been due to a Leyland decision not to tool up for the Series 3 model due to the political situation here." |
