Actually it is a Firebird Formula 400. The Formula could be outfitted with most of the Trans Am performance pieces but does without the Trans Am exterior exuberances. Sometimes it's called "the Trans Am for adults". A 1978 Firebird Formula used by Garner and retained by him after the weekly series ended (so perhaps this very car) sold for $115,000 at the Barrett-Jackson auction in January 2019. The car was stock but fitted with a skid plate under the oil pan. It also had two microphone jacks nicely mounted in the center console. |
