I suppose though it's based on an old British design from the 50s it has been changed a lot over the years since they moved production to India.

Is it correct, as I've read it in my classic car-magazine, that the whole production-tools were brought to India, after it was stopped in Britain?
Same as with the tools of many other now Indian-made cars, vans, trucks, etc?

Happened with the old Morris Oxford which became the Hindustani Ambassador, Vauxhall Victor [FE I think], Rover SD1 (became the Standard 2000). Any others? Also the Fiat 1100 becoming the Padmani.

Also with the whole stuff for making "Tempo"-vans and threewheelers. Maybe with the Mercedes T1-tools, too.

Vauxhall Victor begat the Hindustan Contessa.

On the bikes it seems that they were license made copies to start with.

Interestingly, there was an article in the motoring section of my morning newspaper today on these bikes.
