I may be wrong, but I seem to recall having seen this one at the Porsche Museum last year... |

Yes, the car is in the museum. It's the "long-life-car". Here the engineers have constructed a car with the most solid components, they could get (@rljuna2: the back lamps are the Bosch-made ones of the 1970-73 K 70 ). It should have a life of minimum 20 years without rust or defects. The project was cancelled very soon and no other car-company was interested in it - they never wanted to have a reliable long-life-car! No kidding, even today, cars were constructed in a way, that they will break down after some years. I've got the confirmation about that from some people (not only from one person), who have worked in the prototype-development of car-factories. As my friend, who was a VW-engineer for 31 years told me, that it was never a problem to built extreme reliable long-life-cars - but they weren't allowed to do it. ![]() |

It was the "Forschungsprojekt Langzeit-Auto" of 1973. Link to "www.914-6-club.de" Strange, that nothing detailed is written about it in Wikipedia (or maybe I'm too stupid to find it). |
