Is this a real McCoy or is this a knock-off? |

If it's a Dodge it's a Charger Daytona. If it's a Plymouth, Roadrunner Superbird. |

So now the question is, is it a real Daytona or an ordinary Charger converted to a Daytona lookalike? Chargers and Charger Daytonas had different rear windows; Chargers looked like this and Charger Daytonas looked like this. I know this is a quick way to tell a real Daytona from a lookalike because the shape of the roof is harder to change than adding a nosecone and a spoiler. Watching the video, the car appears to have the proper style for a Daytona, so it's either the genuine article or a very well done copy. |

This is in fact a real Charger Daytona. The car belonged to Joe Machado when this video was shot. Joe was a member of the car club "Winged Warriors". My Dad was a member of the same car club with a 69 Daytona, and a 70 Superbird. This particuliar Daytona now belongs to Joe's son, Sean Machado. The car currently has 258,000 miles on it and has been in the Machado family since its birth. Sean has had the car stripped and painted back to original Red and Black tailstripe color combo. |

1969 was the only model year for these. |

Indeed. If it's a '70, as the old smog check says, it's not a real Daytona. |

Nope. It's a clone. Joe sold his original Daytona, that he was the second owner of way back. It ended up in Washington State. His son, Sean, did buy it back a few years ago. Sean did build a clone right after high school, as you have described. He sold it as a clone to some guy here in La Quinta. It's still running around. Joe's clone is his daily driver. He does something different to it every once in a while. Here's how that same car that was in the Spice Girls video looks now with him towing my '70 Charger he picked up for me... that will soon be a Daytona clone too. They're everywhere in this desert! -- Last edit: 2015-04-21 00:02:48 |

Daytonas were only made in 1969, and Plymoth Superbirds were only made in 1970 |

Kurt is correct. Joe is my uncle. Sean is my retarded cousin. |

Charger Daytonas where made in '69 only not '70 |

That's why it is ID'd as a Replica and Daytona is not part of the model name. |
