yes: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_E30 1982-1986 they had chrome-bumpers. It was the last German car with chrome bumpers. |

Why the end of chrome bumpers? Was they're a rule banning them? |

No rule, it wasn't modern fashion any more. And plastic (unpainted black recycling plastic...) was seen as more practical, because little damages didn't cause visible dents and scratches like on chrome bumpers. For some people (like me) it made the cars ugly and uninteresting. I've lost my interest for actual cars in that years due the plastic bumpers. |

I don't think all cars were completely spoiled by plastic bumpers, but I think the best example of a chrome bumper looking better than a plastic one was the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow (the bumper was the only noticeable change to the exterior design). |

But the thing is people like you on this site tend to be tight-lipped about why they like 80s cars that most people now consider dull and drab, this is why I never understand your liking for them. Care to give any reasons why you like the Montego? |

LHD could be 1982, RHD rather not. The assembling of RHD 320i started in May 1982. |
