Introduced in October 1963, this car can run on any combustible liquid, including liquor and perfume. It failed mostly because of sluggish acceleration.

I saw one of these the other day at the Horseless Carriage Club of Missouri's Easter Concours d'Elegance Show in Forest Park. The Museum of Transport in Kirkwood has one and they bring it out for the show every year.

Sluggish acceleration or not, I wouldn't mind driving one.

Same here. I like the cool jet aircraft-inspired retro design. :)

It is an undeniably cool car.

The bodies and interior were assembled by Ghia in Italy, though the engine was installed after the cars were shipped to America.

The car was also shown in an episode of Motor Week.

Check it out on youtube. It sounds like a plane taxiing on the runway.

Here's an interesting article that disproves that theory: http://www.hemmings.com/hcc/stories/2012/10/01/hmn_feature1.html
