Kooshmeister wrote Behold friends, I give you.... the Joker Van! In the merchandise for the movie back in '89 they released toy versions of the Batmobile, Batwing and a purple step van with the Joker's face emblazoned on the side, which they called the "Joker Van."

I remember being disappointed this vehicle wasn't in the movie. Or so I thought. Craig Shaw Gardner's novelization of the film includes the vehicle, and upon scrutinizing my DVD, I was able to find it. It's only in one very brief scene as a background (1-star) vehicle, when Batman and Vicki are running out of the art museum.

I remember seeing that toy in shops as well :)

Hi guy's
I was the driver of the Jokers van in the film Batman as well other vehicles.
I also supplied the two Jokers cars (Dodge 3700GT)
The Jokers van was one of those off the cuff ideas that script writers come up with during the shoot.
It was actually the White Chevrolet Step Van (seen outside the chem plant)Re-spayed Purple with the great Joker logo.
My brother and I worked as driver and supporting actors along side Jack Nicholson and Tracey Walter (Bob the Goon) in 3 scenes using the Jokers van.
But alas all ended up on the cutting room floor.
I have a model of the Van on my shelf.
Cheers

They seem to have changed the grill and headlights, then, too...

The more I look at it, the less this seems like the same van as /vehicle_16578-Chevrolet-Step-Van-P-20.html

Here is a set pic of the van from 1989:

And here it is now:

Some more pics, from en eBay auction in Wiltshire where it was sold. Even if it isn't the screen-used van, its details match the model used in the film, so whatever this is, is what the Joker van in the movie is. The auction described it as a "Chevrolet/International," and since it doesn't resemble a Chevrolet much, I suggest looking at International step-vans.

Checking the auction's information further, the seller claims there were two, and they were custom built for Pinewood.

Perhaps it started life as an International van like these:

I just dunno why it needed modification at all. Step-vans are already so basic. All they did was make it even more generic than it already was.

I think the headlights are a match.
