Apparently the engine was originally intended for powering airships/dirigibles. Six cars were built with this 21.5 litre (long-stroke, four-cylinder!) unit; IIRC one used to be on show in the old Birmingham Museum of Science and Industry, with a spare piston-ring mounted on the radiator. It was the size of a large dinner-plate. |
