Bren carrier is a regular nickname for the Universal Carrier, built by Avering Barford. The name Bren comes from the Bren light machine gun developed by a Czech company during the war. However, I'm not so sure it is the one, there's something wrong about the tracks.

its not a member of the Bren/universal Carrier family...those wheels to me indicate something post WW2 of Soviet/Czech/Polish etc manufacture.its definately not European or WW2.

your right the suspension is off. I know its not a modified weasel or a locust modified. I think they were trying to make it look like the bren carrier though

Has anyone identified the two light tanks in the rear of the picture?
They appear to be M3 or M5 Stewart light tanks.

The Stuarts in the Background are M5A1s. Not sure what the tracked thing in front is, it is pretending to be a wiesel as the Americans didn't use Bren Carriers, but it certainly isn't a wiesel or Bren carrier.

Americans used another carrier the T16 which is basically the same as a bren just the American version

I don't know about the vehicles, but the location is Aldbury, just outside Tring, Herts. I used to drink in the Greyhound Pub, just out of shot!

this vehicle stumped me for years as it had never seen it when i first saw the film many years ago
i have found out it is called a tracked jeep:-

a few were made for the canadian army in ww2, quite a rare vehicle and why it should end up in the film as anyones guess.

This tracked jeep used in the movie is currently in the Vehicle collection at the Canadian War Museum.

plugspanner was correct back in 2013, it's a Tracked Jeep not a T16. The original Tracked Jeep prototype was hand-built at the Canadian proving grounds. The Mark I prototypes (which this one is) were built by Willys in the USA, and the Mark II prototypes by Marmon-Herrington. The Mark II has a square body and looks more like the Universal Carrier.
