You mean Auxiliary? Although it's painted up like one, the cops weren't auxiliary officers, meaning that the production probably just thought it was easier/cooler to have the NYPD vehicles be black, much like the Chargers in The Taking of Pelham 123. |

Yeah. I mentioned on the Charger page of "Pelham 123" that the dark blue and white cars are used by certain units like Traffic Enforcement, Auxiliary Police, and School Safety. |

Just an ordinary Police Car; the black color it's just a way to make the movie darker, or cooler. Notice the NYPD patches the officers are wearing: all grey-scale darker versions of the real ones. |
