It was introduced as a riot police transport vehicle. It is a canvas-covered, all-wheel-drive military truck, a surplus vehicle from the British Commonwealth, known as the Canadian Military Pattern (C.M.P.), or the Zenigata Assault Team Transport Vehicle, 1943 Canadian GM Military Pattern. It is painted in dark gray. It has right-hand drive and, as a police vehicle, features a siren and a flashing red light on the roof. The C.M.P. was manufactured by both Canadian Ford and Canadian Chevrolet, but the C.M.P. depicted in the story is a Chevrolet model because its radiator grille has a diagonal diamond pattern (the Ford version has a square mesh pattern).
In 1973, Yasuo Otsuka designed and developed a 1/35 scale model of the same truck as a product for Max Model, marketing it as the "C.M.P. Small Truck," and it was subsequently commercialized by the company.
