I think Pontiac only used that style grille in '72.

I'm not at all certain what we're looking at above. The fender top looks Buick but the side is missing the swoop.

Yes, they did. Looking through my worn out copy of "Monstrous American Car Sposter's Guide 1920-1980," by Tad Burness, I realized that the horizontal bar on the '71 LeMans wasn't that thick. The 1973's were the ones where all mid-sized GM's got dual headlights and the ugly colonndale bodies, and Pontiac mid-sized models were one of the uglier ones. This is strictly a '72 LeMans. Not a Buick.
