Just noticed in the thumbnails for this car some interesting features. 1st thumbnail you can see the alloy wheels and upswept tail pipe. 2nd thumbnail you can see driving lights painted black to blend in with the grille. Driving lights were only fitted to Charger 770 luxury models, and Charger R/T sports models. However 770s had a vinyl covered panel over the fake vent behind the rear quarter side glass which this car doesn't have. The upswept tail pipes were standard fit on R/T and optional on lower models. The black side stripe is similar to genuine R/T stripe treatment, and may have been painted over roughly to tidy up the cars appearance. Based on these clues I am prepared to call this an R/T. |

Todds Motors assembled Chargers in NZ from late 71 to 76. Apparently the only coupe ever built in NZ, it was only single spec Charger 770 Hemi 265 with automatic, identical to Aus builds with standard 203 bhp, but fitted with LSD, slightly different trim, non-reclining seats and no rear over-riders. However Todds also imported a small batch of Charger R/Ts. |
