Apparently it's a kit car based on a Volkswagen van. http://rqriley.com/b-bug.html |

``Boonie Bug" based on a shorted VW bus frame. Back in the `70s, the Technical Director of my High School got the plans from Popular Mechanics. My Auto Class made the trip down to my dad's junkyard, an picked-up a VW bus as a donor vehicle. One team fabricated the body, while another shortened the frame to the specs. I did the brakes. The Senior class would put it together...and the junior class would take it apart for practice.( this crap went on for years ). After I graduated, I would come back to hand out my Dad's award during commencement. While there, I would walk down to the auto shop and look thru the door to see the shadowy image of the Boonie Bug in the gloom... ( Don't know if the Technical Director ever got to drive the damn thing before he died... ) |
