Very unusual, but looks real. The waste disposal part is a Faun Rotopress.

On the side it says 'Sperrgut' meaning bulky goods/waste. Probably the driver had to get out of his cab to help loading the waste into the truck. Therefore a sliding door is useful.

I've seen doors like this only on catenary service trucks (like this one by Schörling).

Edit 1: Found a similar cab layout on LP basis (but don't know the coachbuilder).

Edit 2: I think it was Stolle from Hannover: they still mount these kind of doors.

Just yesterday a private company has picked up our old bulky waste. I haven't checked the coachbuilder, but the truck (a smaller Mercedes for our narrow roads) had folding doors, similar to town buses. And its cabin was very low positioned.

@Tönz: the garbage-truck on your edit 1 was the typical one, I remember from my childhood in the 70ies.

@Alexander: "unusual" würde ich nicht sagen. Schiebetüren sind bei Sperrmüll-LKW ziemlich häufig.

@Ingo: I'm sure it was an Econic that crushed your old sofa.

@Tönz: yes, it was that truck. Is the garbage-press always the same or are there more manufacturers? I'm not sure, but I think, the truck in our area was shorter than that one on the pic.

In Germany the probably best known is Faun and in the last century also KUKA that sold it's waste disposal section to Faun in 1983. Another active company is Zoeller. Other names that I found here are Geesink, Georg, Hagemann, Haller, Heil, Hüffermann, Hummel, Knierim, Leach, MUT, Norba (part of Geesink today), Normann Bock, Schörling, of which most are smaller or specialized companies.
