I'd like to say "yes," but all I have to go on is the white body and orange rims. |

Yes, it is a Melroe Bobcat M444 (1963) or possibly the more powerful Melroe Bobcat M600 (1968) which looked identical. In 1963 the first skid-steer loaders were sold in Europe imported from the USA. Beginning in 1965 were produced under licence in Europe for local markets, initially by Luff and Smith in the UK (1965-67), then by Beltrami in Ravenna, Italy (1967-1970), and later by Scheid Maschinenfabrik in Aumenau, Germany (1970-75). From 1975 on production was concentrated in the USA. As the film is from 1974 and the loader does not look too old I would say it is one produced in the 1970s. The Melroe Manufacturing Company was founded in 1947 and was bought by the Clark Equipment Companyin 1969. In 1995 Clark and with it Melroe were bought by the Ingersoll-Rand Company and the Melroe part was later renamed to Bobcat Company. In 2007 Doosan Infracore bought the Bobcat Company from Ingersoll-Rand. |
