This is based on the Ford GPA (not a DUKW). There was a Russian copy of the GPA, but I don't recall the model number. |

The Russian version of the GPA was known as the GAZ 46 MAV: http://www.4wdonline.com/Mil/GAZ/46.html |

Two are used, one driven by Indiana Jones and the other by Marion. |

At one point when Marion slammed the brake, you can see it has modern 2 pedal system. |

You mean it has modern Ford pedals. There's no mistaking the chunky-ness of a modern Ford pedal. -- Last edit: 2009-01-24 04:08:15 |

Yea, I own an 84 Mustang and the pedals are real skinny, must be a modern thing. That Gaz and a few other Chrystal Skull cars are actually being sold off as I type this, forgot what magizine metioned it though. |

around 5 were used in filming...2 driveable....1 "upside down" prop for the end of waterfall sequence...1 normal prop attatched to a mechanical arm which when disguised by a water chute and filled with stunt actors, is the vehicle which goes over the waterfall, with the mechanical arm holding the vehicle in the water chute and a blue screen background onto which the "outside" trees etc are added in post production......most of the chase sequence is computer generated with static vehicles in a closed studio!!. |

One of four fiberglass replicas used in the movie, built on 1980s' Jeep chassis, is now displayed at Volo Auto Museum of Volo, Illinois.![]() |
