Nor anywhere else, officially: it's an IMCDb convenience is all, to distinguish between the various versions. This is the earliest, with the integral grille; probably a 30cwt (~1.5 tonne) (long wheelbase, twin rears, higher roof). |

Out of curiousity, what year did they update the grille of the Mk 1 Transit? Was it 1971? |

Not especially IMCDB; it is a well used naming, same for many other European Ford models |

Yes, it was: http://www.adamek.cz/dodavky/transit/g1/plakat.jpg @ antp: so I found out while researching the above, but it's never been official Ford practice, has it? -- Last edit: 2007-11-21 17:28:13 |

On some old UK models they may have used it, but on the recent ones like Transit, Escort, Mondeo, Sierra, etc. it is "unofficial" as far as I know. -- Last edit: 2007-11-21 18:11:11 |

This is why chassis codes or other internal model designations would be preferable - unamibgious and all... |

Since it is RHD, i guess this one was assembled in Southhampton/Great Britain. |

"Origin D, built in GB" - are you sure, that this is correct? ![]() Last Sunday I've seen a kind of counterproof: /vehicle.php?id=452138 |
