Żuk. I guess it's a A03 ? |

Others are listed as Zuk, without the dot on the Z. Which is right? If Żuk instead of Zuk, there is a problem in the alphabetic order... |

The Ż is a problem for the database anyway, being not in iso-8859-1 charset. If needed, I can make it appear with a dot like the S with a caron (Š) in Skoda. -- Last edit: 2007-11-18 22:03:56 |

Hmm, I think, not historically correct. As I know, the Zuk was never exported to the GDR. Was there any export of it? |
◊ 2008-07-07 22:05 |
Yes, from 1976 but I don't know how much Żuk's were exported there. |

To the GDR? Or to other countries? |
◊ 2008-07-07 22:24 |
GDR, before and later it was exported to most of the comecon countries and also others (assembled in Egypt). |

Oh, I didn't know that. I've never seen a Zuk in the pre-1989 GDR, in the 90ies neither. They only had the Barkas. A few Barkas-Framo have survived the GDR-times, too. GDR-people with good contacts to the West or the "nomenklatura" got VW T3 Transporter's. -- Last edit: 2008-07-07 22:39:35 |

There have been imported Zuk vans to the DDR somewhere in the 70s, I believe one train freight just one time, because the Barkas Werke couldn´t meet inland request due to over-exited export promises. I doubt the secret police really used such a unique vehicle, I bet the producers just used this van because of it´s eastern block looks :P |

Usually the Stasi had used Barkas, as this one: /vehicle_139055-Barkas-B1000-FR-1983.html This one is even an authentic Stasi-prisoner-transporter. P.S.But they liked imported cars, too. When they were travelling in Western Germany (disguised as an official delegation or so), they preferred BMW. But the disguise was not really neccessary, because everyone in West Germany knows, that any official visitors from the GDR had connections with the secret service "Stasi". In one omy my books about the GDR (I'm one of the very few Western guys, who are interested in that), I've seen a Stasi-agent driving a Fiat 130, but I cannot identify, if it was the Italian original or the Polish assembled one. An original cold be possible - the official GDR-regime liked the Italian Communist Party more than the Polish neighbours. ![]() |

In the years 1976-1980 more than 6000 Żuks was exported to DDR, they were also used by local post: http://nysavan.mojeforum.net/temat-vt591.html |
