I think so too, or perhaps a Polo II?

The 'square' dashboard is a clue I think.

I would agree that it is an early Volkswagen Polo II Coupé [Typ 87C] (1982).

As this car was not produced for the German market the code is not [Typ 86C] but [Typ 87C]. The Coupé started in August 1982.

:??: Where did you find that 87C code?
And you are sure that it was not made for Germany? Did you only get the wagon-shaped one?
Others Polo II coupé were listed as hatchback, we should change either others or this one to keep lists coherent.

One reference is here: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/VW_Polo_II
antp wrote And you are sure that it was not made for Germany?

The film is from Spain, filmed in Madrid, and the Polo II were also being produced in Pamplona.

No, all three versions were available in Germany, the hatchback called 'Polo', which looks more like an estate (in German called Steilheck), the notchback, which ran under the name 'Derby' (later renamed to 'Polo Classic'), and the more traditional hatchback look which was named 'Polo Coupé'.
The code Typ 86C/87C is identical for all three versions. So far I cannot say if 86C was used for those that were produced in Germany and 87C produced in Spain, or if it was rather the target market that defined the number, 86C for Germany, 87C else were. Either way a car running in Spain will be Typ 87C.

I don't really mind which way it is classified. Probably hatchback is a better classification, even though named Coupé by Volkswagen.

I think that it is better to keep 86C for all if there are no visible difference, I do not really see what interest we get by using 87C for those made in Spain as that code is less known and splits Polo listings. And even in this case there is no guarantee that the car was made in Spain :D

I don't! :)

Firstly: why put down wrong information, if we know better?
Secondly: with more than 120.000 vehicles from over 1.500 makes IMCDb has become the reference for cars, not only movie related. If someone searches for information about Typ 87C here is the place to find it.

A 99.99% chance is good enough for me! :D

I do not see listing all as 86 rather than 86+87 as being a "wrong" info, I just see that as a way to group them using the usual generic code. For the same reason, we list all VW "Beetle" as Typ 1 instead of the various types that they used.
By the way, there is still work to do to split European & US New Beetles (not same code).
Also some convertible Golf have different codes, but to keep things easier (and keep them grouped) they got the same code as the hatchback ones.
