In original Zodiac case, witnesses had claimed that Zodiac had drove a Chevrolet Impala, but the witnesses stated that the Impala that the Zodiac drove was a white, possibly pale blue 1959 to 1960 four door model. They also stated that had a run in with him at several times in the hours before he kills. Two hunters, Frank Gasser and Robert Connelly stated that both were heading towards Marshall Ranch just off Lake Herman Road in their red Ford pickup when they spotted the Impala parked in a turn-off at about 9pm on the night of the 20th December 1968, (the night that Betty Jensen and David Faraday were killed), they saw that the vehicle was unoccupied, this sighting was backed up by a farmer, Bingo Wesner who saw the pickup as it passed the Impala. Wesner then stated he saw Impala starting up and pulling onto Lake Herman Road. Another witness, William Crow, stated that ½ hour later at 9:30pm, Crow and his girlfriend were sitting in Crow's girlfriend's car parked on Lake Herman Road in a turn off adjacent to the Number 10 gated entry of the Benicia Water Pump Station when he saw the headlights of the Chevrolet coming down Lake Herman Road towards their car. Feeling uneasy, Crow then stated when Crow and his girlfriend pulled onto Lake Herman Road to head in the opposite direction of the Chevrolet towards Benicia, the Chevrolet pulled a U-turn and begun to follow their vehicle at high speed until Crow had reached a turn-off to pull into, just off the main road. As the Chevrolet was too big to pull into the turn off, it stopped for a few minutes before turning around and driving off towards Vallejo. Another witness, James Owens stated that he was driving to his work in Benicia when passed the Gate 10 entry around the time of Faraday and Jensen's murder, as he drove passed the gate, Owen saw the Rambler that Faraday and Jensen were driving, Owen also stated that he saw the Chevrolet Impala pulling in beside the Rambler. Owen then stated that a few minutes after passing the Number 10 Gate, he heard gunshots. Another witness, Karen Ellendy stated that four to five months before Darlene Ferrin was killed and her friend, Mike Mageau were attacked, in late February, early March 1969, she was babysitting Dean and Darlene Ferrin's infant daughter one night when she spotted a white sedan-type vehicle identical to the 1959-1960 Chevrolet Impala as seen by other witnesses previously. -- Last edit: 2024-06-08 09:18:17 |
