Not a Ford, but a(rare)1978 Reynolds-Boughton RB44(use Ford A-Series cab and components, but fits Bedford 3.5 petrol or a Perkins 4.2 lt.diesel powerplants;obviously was all-wheel drive, with transfer box made just by Reynolds-Boughton) PS An extract(pg.99) from 1986"WORLD TRUCK HANDBOOK",edited by Jane's Publishing: "REYNOLDS-BOUGHTON RB44 -GB Maker:Reynolds-Boughton Chassis Ltd.,Winkleigh,Devon T.T.Boughton of Amersham,Bucks.,have made forestry and agricultural winches since the 19 th century, and they teamed up with Reynolds, who specialised in off-road conversions to trucks,to manufacture fire engines, particularly airfield crash tenders...The RB44 chassis is the basis for a number of fire engines, when it is known as the Apollo, and has been supplied in considerable numbers to Electricity Boards who use it with Simon elevating platforms" |

this particular one has "Emergency Rescue Vehicle" body....the cupola above the cab is a non original prop added for filming. Not really a rarity..various electricity boards across the UK have ,within the past few years, phased them out and replaced them with rather unsteadily tall Mercedes Unimogs..they dont half lean on corners when fitted with elevating platforms!!! -- Last edit: 2007-06-02 00:44:27 |

Older type with Ford A-Series cab were still badged Boughton in the 1980s - like their airport firetruck - unlike later those with Renault/Dodge cab all badged as Reynolds-Boughton around 1991-1993 > https://www.flickr.com/photos/55249727@N04/6158641799 |
