See the plate DO-PE 69. The employees of the car-registration-authority in Dortmund are going mad, when there is the next customer, who asks to get DO-PE 69. It's going worse, after this movie was shown again in the TV.  By the way: this combination is in real use and the owner will not give it away. .gif ":)") This location is a tool-market "Hagebaumarkt" in Holzwickede near Dortmund. Besides the trees in the background was a small, but good junkyard. Unfortunately closed in 2001. Now there's a boring LIDL-discounter  |

Would say not as common as a 4-door, but not that rare. Even today there a some known. One early 1971 GXL 2-door in good original condition with 2.0 V6 was for sale here till last month. Rarest of the bunch is the 1975-only GXL Turnier. -- Last edit: 2026-02-19 02:10:20 |

Cortina Mk3 GXL was launched as both 2 and 4 door, but despite Corgi's best efforts![[Image: corgi3132drblueandbronze.jpg]](http://pics.imcdb.org/10314/26/corgi3132drblueandbronze.jpg) (that's meant to be Graham Hill) 2 door was a very slow seller and stopped in June 72. GXL replaced by 2000E in Sept 73 (not much difference apart from rectangular lights), which added an estate in Sept 74 similar to your GXL Turnier - moderately rare but not a unicorn. |
