AFAIK, the Woodill Wildfire only can be seen in these 3 movies: Johnny Dark; Written on the Wind and in this one Knock on Wood. Well, this rare (for now) says goodbye to the site with this gallery ![]() Others same (part seen) in the dealer shop ![]() Edited: thumbnails 8 to 10 that dsl said have been removed -- Last edit: 2010-10-29 20:23:36 |

Another car that smells funny. First it's RHD - very surprising if only 6 were built (http://www.americansportscars.com/wildfire.html) - the showroom examples in final thumbs are LHD. Thumbs 8-10 look UK-set - particularly 8 - but are a different car (Edit - now agreed as Swallow Doretti with own entry, not Allard or Jensen as I guessed first) - see bonnet, wheels, grille. Finally the plate NGP 971 was a genuine number (issued Oct 52-Mar 53) but no details of what it was issued on. So lots of fakery, but I can't unpick it all. Two main questions (1) was there ever a genuine RHD Wildfire (and if not what actually is the car in the US scenes?) (2) what is the car in thumbs 8-10? and could it be the genuine NGP 971 as a longshot question? -- Last edit: 2010-10-27 20:38:02 |

From here http://www.forgottenfiberglass.com/?p=7239 '1953 Petersen Motorama Here’s what is written about the Wildfire in the 1953 Motorama Program: ![]() The Vibrin plastic-bodied Woodill “Wildfire” designed for late model Willys or ’39-’48 Ford chassis, is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful “home product” sports cars. A replica of this car can be seen in Danny Kaye’s latest film, “Knock on Wood.” ' Woodill Wildfire Replica. The lower edge of the windshield is almost straight compared to actual pictures of the preserved Woodill Wildfire. -- Last edit: 2010-11-04 17:56:41 |

Very interesting photo - registration appears to be NGP 871, while the film car has NGP 971, although the plate looks retouched. Also it's RHD like the filmcar - it's this RHD feature which bugs me - why is it RHD? would a genuine Woodill have been RHD? There's a nice dash photo in the thumbs - any parts/dials look familiar? -- Last edit: 2012-07-19 15:28:00 |

The speedometer looks typically 1950s GM (USA) to me. The minor gauges don't match and could be anything USA or British. Don't recognise the steering wheel, column or parking brake. |
