Believe made by Autolatina Argentina(joint-venture thru ex-Ford Argentina and VW Argentina),but differently by same European ones,the Argentinian fits a 1.8 lt.made in Brazil by VW--same unit of BR-made Gol,fitted also on the Brazilian Escort Convèrsìvel(=convertible)Mk 4 |

in south america the Escort Cabriolet were made in the Karmamn-Ghia plant in São Paulo, but all the cabriolet parts (like the roof, glasses, bootlid, doors, tail lights and etc came from Germany, only the parts shared with the hard-top Escort were made in Brazil the engine of the XR3 MK4 89-92 were a VW EA827 1.8 with a carb, and you can choose a gasoline powered version or an ethanol powered in brazil (but only gasoline in Argentina) |
