There are two Vauxhall Astras in this film, one used often during the film by Sgt. Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) and PC Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) and another used in the chase near the end driven by Inspector Frank Butterman (Jim Broadbent) and Simon Skinner (Timothy Dalton). I think it's worth created an entry for each one, a 4 star and a 3 star entry.

Also added an additional Astra seen briefly at the start of the film :)

Acutally there was 5 Astras and 3 of them were modified so they could quickly be made to look like each other.

Is there any evidence to say that the plates on this and the 4[*] Astra are genuine? I really don't think they are.

Doesn't come up in any database as genuine. Plates of this age beginning with S are Scottish, with the SF specifically indicating a Glasgow DVLA office registration. The F usually represents fleets such as police, fire brigade and local bus operators. Seems unlikely that a Somerset police force would run a Glasgow-registered Vauxhall, so an odd choice of fake plate by the film-makers!
