The front rather looks like the Dodge Diplomat / Plymouth-Something often used as police car in their sedan version. -- Last edit: 2007-02-16 00:32:05 |

Either a Plymouth Caravelle (the canadian version of the Gran Fury) or a Dodge Diplomat |

Rarely seen 1980 Dodge Diplomat wagon. It was discontinued in 1981 after sales didn't do so well since it competed with the Dodge Aries wagon. |

I agree with Snookie. This is a Dodge Diplomat wagon...and rare at that! |

Here is a nearly identical 1980 Plymouth Caravelle (but this one is not a wagon) http://moparman.monchar.com/ (the link is very slow today) See this link for the Diplomat/Caravelle history. http://www.dippy.org/info/diphist.html Note that the Plymouth Caravelle with this body style was already available in 1980 here in Canada while the Gran Fury built on this body was introduced later in the US. -- Last edit: 2007-02-18 06:54:36 |

Thanks for the info, philr...I take it from viewing some of the other pictures from this film that is was made in Canada. So we may very well have a Plymouth Caravelle here. ![]() I wonder if the Plymouth version was more common than its Dodge cousin? |

Even this picture shows the Jacques Cartier bridge in Montreal. I remember that both models were quite common in the mid-eighties (I mean the sedans). I don't know how many of each model were sold here but neither were rare. Now they are getting rarer! |

I have yet been to Montreal (hope to visit soon!). In the States, I recall seeing 1977-79 Dodge Diplomat wagons. But I can't ever recall seeing a 1980+ wagon (with the front end restyle). |

Well, considering it was taken in Montreal I'd say it was a Plymouth Caravelle Salon Wagon. The only difference with the US version Diplomat was the emblems and hood ornament. Either way, both are rare as Hens teeth. |

'80-'81 Dodge Diplomat wagon (Plymouth Gran Fury/Caravelle's grills weren't as blacked out) |
